Chris
quits his job at Tesco to star as a Dreamboys
super-hunk.
CLEAN-cut Chris has gone from supermarket
to super-HUNK. The 21-year-old shelf-stacker
is leaving his job at Tesco today to join
the sexy Dreamboys dance troupe.
And his pay of just Pounds 8,000 a year
at the store will rocket to around Pounds
30,000 as a member of the saucy stage
show.
Chris was selected from thousands of hopefuls
who entered our competition to become
a Dreamboy.
And tomorrow, millions of viewers will
see Chris win a year's contract to dance
with the troupe on Gaby Roslyn’s
BBC show Whatever You Want.
Chris and two other hopefuls had to learn
a sexy routine in under 45 minutes and
perform it with the group in front of
a studio audience.
The audience then picked Chris as the
winner.
The new Dreamboy says he owes his success
to his dad Michael, a self-employed builder.
Chris says: "When I won I looked
for my dad's face in the audience and
I could just see him beaming.
"I thanked him for all he'd ever
done for me and told him that without
him I'd be nowhere now."
Now Chris is set to tour Europe with the
Dreamboys, visiting Turkey and Tenerife.
He says: "To be up they’re
dancing and doing what I love is fantastic.
To win is just out of this world."
Dad Michael, 55, who split from Chris's
mother when he was 13, says: "When
I knew the audience had voted for him
I was speechless. I wanted to shout and
cheer but I just sat there grinning."
Chris says: "It was absolutely nerve-racking
- I don't think I've ever been so terrified
in all my life.
"But when I was dancing I became
so focused on what the others were doing
and on trying to keep in time that I forgot
where I was and actually began to enjoy
it."
Just hours earlier, Chris was stacking
shelves at Tesco in Uxbridge near his
home in Hillingdon, Middlesex.
But he is not daunted by the prospect
of fame.
He says: "After the show all these
girls were rushing up and asking for my
autograph. I have to admit it was a nice
feeling but I know not to take it too
seriously. "The Dreamboys have told
me there are venues where women can be
wild. They
warned me to be polite but not get too
close."
Chris will train in the gym for a month
before his first show in June at the Volante
club in West London.
He says: "My shape is not bad now
because I used to do a lot of the martial
art of Tae Kwondo. But there is still
a lot to be done before I'm anywhere near
the size of these guys."
No one was more proud of Chris than older
brother Neil, who came rushing down from
the audience to hug him. Incredibly, it
won him a spot with the Dreamboys too.
Neil, 24, was spotted by Dreamboys who
was struck by his good looks and asked
if he was interested in joining.
Chris says: "This couldn't have worked
out better. My brother and me look after
each other. Who knows, now we could be
known as the Dream Brothers!"
Boost
The Dreamboys have a reputation for being
the raunchiest dance troupe in Britain,
on stage and off.
But Chris reveals the guys have all been
very kind to him. "Just before we
did the routine for the BBC, they encouraged
us all and gave us the confidence
boost we needed to face the audience.
"They say many stories about sex
with groupies are just that - stories.
"Mind you, I can't tell you what
they've told me about Tenerife. Let's
just say I look forward to going there!"
